My last days in Poznan / Mes derniers jours à Poznan

During this week, we began the put down the table and the bench, put our staff in cartons. Today (Friday), we finish to pack everything, because tomorrow a lorry is coming and at 7am we will have to load it quickly.

Pendant cette semaine, nous avons commencé à ranger les tables et les bancs, mis nos affaires dans les cartons. Aujourd’hui (vendredi), nous finissons de tout mettre dans les cartons, car demain un camion arrive et à 7h du matin nous devrons le charger rapidement.

Sunday afternoon, a last thanksgiving prayer will gather us with all the people of Poznan in a bif church in Rataje, area on the south-east of Poznan, church Nawiedzenia NMP.

Dimanche après-midi, une dernière prière de remerciement nous rassemblera avec toutes les personnes de Poznan qui le souhaitent dans une très grande église à Rataje, quartier au sud-est de Poznan, église Nawiedzenia NMP.

Then in the evening, all the volunteers will take a minibus and go back to Taizé. For myself, it will be on Monday afternoon, but first to Paris for 4 hours then by TGV to Taize.

Puis dans la soirée, tous les volontaires vont prendre un minibus pour rentrer à Taize. Et moi, ça sera lundi après-midi, mais à Paris d'abord pour 4 heures puis par TGV à Taizé.

Last visit of parishes / Dernières visites aux paroisses

Depuis le 7 décembre, nous visitons les paroisses pour les remercier de leur participation à la rencontre, nous partageons avec les familles et les jeunes leurs experiences durant ces jours-là. Avec 11 paroisses et seulement 10 jours, j’ai relevé le défi de toutes les visiter personnellement. C’est très beau d’entendre tout ce qui s’est passé pendant la rencontre ou meme déja avant.

Since the 7th of December, we visit the parishes to thank for their participation to the meeting we share with the families and the young people their experience during those days. With 11 parishes and only 10 days, I had managed to arrange a visit in person to all of them. It’s really beautiful to heard all the thing who happen during the meeting or already before it.

Break in Piłka / Repos à Piłka

After the meeting, before to start the last visit of parishes, we had some days of breaks, to sleep as long as we want. For the boys, we spend those days in the country house of our family. It’s in Piłka, almost 110 km by car, 75km by train, in the middle of a big forest on the north of Poznan after Wronki.
Après la rencontre, avant de commencer les dernières visites des paroisses, nous avons quelques jours de repos, pour dormir aussi longtemps que l’on voulait. Pour les garcons, nous sommes allés dans la maison secondaire de notre famille. Elle se trouve à Piłka, un peu plus de de 110 km par la route, 75 km par le train, au milieu d’une grande foret au nord de Poznan après Wronki.

Normally, when there is no snow 1h30 is enough to rich the place but the 2nd of January, there was snow everywhere, the road frozen… very bad condition. But Matteo who is coming from the Italian mountain could drive surely and with experience. So after 2 hours and half we arrived safely in Piłka where Joaquim and Matthieu were waiting us since 3 hours.
Normallement, quand il n’y a pas de neige, 1h30 est assez pour rejoindre le lieu mais le 2 Janvier, il y avait de la neige partout, les routes gelées… très mauvaises conditions. Mais Matteo qui vient des montagnes italiennes peut conduire sûrement et avec expérience. Apres 2 heures et demi nous sommes arrivés sains et saufs à Piłka, ou Joaquim et Matthieu nous attendaient depuis 3 heures.

The house was very simple, but enough big for our stay. A small kitchen where we could prepare and take our meals, two bedrooms, a living room where we were watching some DVD in a computer and a bathroom. To heat the house, we had to put carbon in fireplace. I was one of the first one who woke up in the morning, so I was going outside to take carbon. The heating system was working very well and we didn’t fell cold.
La maison etait très simple, mais assez grande pour notre sejour. Une petit cuisine où nous pouvions préparer et prendre nos repas, deux chambres, une salle de sejour ou nous regardions quelques DVD sur l’ordinateur et une salle de bain. Pour chauffer la maison, nous devions mettre du charbon dans une chaudière. J’étais l’un des premiers à me réveiller le matin, donc j’allais dehors prendre du charbon. Le chauffage a très bien fonctionné et nous n’avons pas eu froid.

With Matteo, we wanted to build an igloo, collecting the snow and compacting it in small basket and slowly, putting up the walls. But we saw the igloo a bit too big and estimate bad the quantity of the snow around. So with all the snow of the last days, Antek and Franek are happy to try to finish it next week, the area of Poznan will be already on winter holydays.
Avec Matteo, nous avons voulu construire un igloo, collectant la neige et la compactant dans des petits seaux et doucement montant les murs. Mais nous avons vu l’igloo trop grand et mal estimé la quantité de neige autour. Donc avec toutes la neige de ces derniers jours, Antek et Franek seront heureux d’essayer de le finir la semaine prochaine, la région de Poznan sera déja en vacances.

Quel grand jour pour toute l’équipe des permanents arrivés à Poznań à la mi-septembre ! Tôt ce matin, nous étions tous heureux de recevoir des nouvelles de l’ensemble des paroisses que nous avons visitées et préparées pour ce jour d’accueil depuis plusieurs semaines. La joie, l’enthousiasme se ressentent dans les voix malgré le stress d’accueillir parfois plus de 200 personnes. « Quatre Portugais sont arrivés ». « Nous avons accueilli 34 personnes ! » « Le bus vient de déposer 25 personnes ; le thé, les gâteaux sont prêts ! » « Le premier groupe est parti dans les familles, quand les prochains arriveront-ils ? » Les téléphones sonnent sans cesse. La rencontre européenne tant attendue commence !

What a great day for all the volunteers who arrived in Poznan in mid-September! Early this morning we were all happy to hear from all the parishes we visited and prepared for several weeks for this day of welcome. We felt the joy and enthusiasm in the voices despite the stress of hosting sometimes more than 200 people. "Four Portuguese have arrived." "We welcomed 34 people!" "The bus has just brought 25 people; tea and cakes are ready!" "The first group left for the families; when is the next one arriving?" The phones keep ringing. The long-awaited European meeting has begun.

Christmas eve / Réveillon de Noel

This year, with Joaquim, we lived many things during Christmas.
Cette année, avec Joaquim, nous avons vécu beaucoup de choses pendant Noel.

First, with some others volunteers and brother Ulrich, we went to the prison in Wronki, 50km on the North of Poznan. It’s the biggest prison of this part of Poland. There we had a prayer, we sang some polish Christmas song and shared with around twenty prisoners, two Franciscan brothers, and some people of the prison chaplaincy. It was very beautiful, and deep for them. Not spend this time of the year with their families, for some it was the first time ; for some others, it’s already many years they lived this maybe already before the prison.
D’abord, avec d’autres volontaires et frère Ulrich, nous sommes allés a la prison de Wronki, 50km au nord de Poznan. C’est la plus grande prison dans cette partie de Pologne. Là nous avons eu une priere, nous avons chanté des chants polonais de Noël et discuté avec une vingtaine de prisonniers, 2 frères franciscains, et quelques personnes de l’aumonerie de la prison. C’etait très beau et fort pour eux. Ne pas passer ce temps de l’année avec leurs familles, pour certaines c’était la premiere fois ; pour d’autres, ça fait déja plusieurs années qu’ils ne vivent pas ce moment, peut-être déjà avant.

When we come back in Poznan around 17h35, there was no tram, because it’s Christmas. So with Joaquim, Adri and Aline, we have to take the night buses. First, we saw that we have to wait 20 minutes before the next departure. So we decided to give the last small gifts, that we had prepared for the prisoners, to some homeless people who stay in the train station. One man, who couldn’t walk because of his leg, took between some papers a “opłatek” (saw below) and asked us to take a small piece, then we prayed the “Our Father” together. With two others, we sang some Christmas song in the middle of train station hall, slept by such “big” activity…
Quand nous sommes revenu a Poznan autour de 17h34, il n’y avait plus de tram, parce que c’était Noël. Donc avec Joaquim, Adri et Aline, nous avons decidé de prendre les bus de nuit. D’abord, nous avons qu’il fallait attendre 20 minutes avant le prochain départ. Donc nous décidons de donner les derniers petits cadeaux, que nous avions preparés pour les prisonniers, aux personnes sans-abri qui restent dans la gare de train. Un monsieur, qui ne pouvait pas marcher à cause de son pied, prit d’au milieu de papiers un “opłatek” (voir plus loin) et nous demanda d'en prendre un morceau, puis nous prions le “Notre Pere” ensemble. Avec deux autres personnes, nous chantons quelques chants de Noel au milieu d’un hall de la gare, endormie par une si “grande” activité…

After we went to wait our buses ; for Adri and Aline it was ok, but Joaquim and me we was waiting 2 minutes more before we realized that the bus we had to take was starting from a other point, so we ran but we arrived too late. So two solutions : to wait the next one in the cold, or during almost the same time to go by foot through the city center. We choose the second one. And finally it was very beautiful. First, we saw the preparation of a Christmas celebration by the Anglican church in the subway of a big round-about. Then in the middle of empty streets (no restaurant, no bar, no shop opened), in Stare Rynek, we met some brothers of Taize distributing coffee helping in the Christmas Eve organized in a restaurant by the foundation Barka, for the people who are poor or leave in the street. After very short greetings, we went to our house.
Après nous sommes allés attendre nos bus de nuit ; pour Adri et Aline c’était bon, mais pour Joaquim et moi nous avons attendu 2 minutes de plus avant de realiser que le bus que nous avions à prendre partait d’un autre lieu, donc nous avons couru mais nous sommes arrivés trop tard. Donc deux solutions : attendre le prochain dans le froid, ou pendant à peu près le même temps traverser à pied le centre-ville. Nous avons choisi la deuxieme. Et finalement, c’était très beau. D’abord, nous avons vu les preparatifs de la celebration de Noël par l’église anglicane dans le souterrain d’un grand rond-point. Puis au milieu de rues vides (pas de restaurant, ni de bar, ni de magasin ouvert), au Stare Rynek, nous avons rencontré quelques frères de Taize distribuant du café aidant au reveillon organisé dans un restaurant par la foundation Barka, pour les personnes pauvres ou vivant dans la rue. Après de très brèves salutations, nous sommes rentrès a la maison.

“Wigilia” with our family / avec notre famille :
Around 19h00, we started the Eve with a prayer. First we read a passage of the Gospel about the birth a Jesus, concretely we stopped before the announcement of the new by the angels to the sheppers. After we shared the “opłatek”, piece of bread with a Christmas drawing (angels, Mary, Jesus child, Holy Family…). Everybody have one, and go to wish good things to everybody ; the person in front of you take a piece of your “opłatek” and you the same from his. After the wishes, we had the supper with traditionally 12 dishes, I didn’t checked the number but it was really good. There is no meat on 24th of December in Poland, because it’s a fast day, so some dishes was fish. And to finish, after the meal, we was waiting the “Pasterka” singing Christmas song in polish but also some in French.
Autour de 19h00, nous avons commencé le reveillon avec une prière. D’abord nous avons lu un passage de l’Evangile sur la naissance de Jesus, concrètement nous nous sommes arrêtés avons l’annonce de la nouvelle par les anges au bergers. Apres nous avons partage l’ ”opłatek”, morceau de pain sans levain avec un dessin de Noël (anges, Marie, Jesus enfant, la Sainte Famille…). Tout le monde en a une, et va souhaiter de bonnes choses à tout le monde ; la personne en face de vous prend un morceau de ton “opłatek” et toi la même chose avec le sien. Après les souhaits, nous avons eu le repas avec traditionellement 12 mets, je n’ai pas verifié le nombre mais c’etait très bon. On ne mange pas de viande le 24 décembre, car c’est un jour de jeune, donc quelques plats étaient avec du poisson. Et pour finir, après le repas, nous avons attendu la “Pasterka” chantant des chants de Noel en polonaise mais aussi quelques uns en francais.

There is nothing really different then in France, but it’s in January around Epiphany, there is the story de birth of Jesus playing by the children. After the “Paterka”, we were invited with the other young people of the parish for a tea in the flat of Ks Darek, the vicar of Katedra.
Il n’y a rien de très différent par rapport à la France, mais c’est en janvier, autour de l’Epiphanie, qu’a lieu l’histoire de Jesus jouée par les enfants. Après la “Paterka”, nous avons été invités avec les autres jeunes de la paroisse pour un thé à l’appartement de Ks Darek, le vicaire de la Katedra.

This morning, when we take the car to go to the Rorate, it was writhing -15°C. Tomorrow it will be more cold and I have to take a bus at 8 o'clock, and the temperature will be more cold... For the anecdote, the blessed water in the entrance of the church was completely frozen, many big ice blocks are gallivanting on the Warta, and the windows of trams and buses are frozen also inside... welcome the Poland ! But the win will changed in few days and temperatures will return around 0°C.

Ce matin, quand nous avons pris la voiture pour aller au Rorate, c'était marqué -15°C. Demain, il fera plus froid et je dois me lever à 8 heures; et la température sera plus froide... Pour l'anecdote, l'eau bénite à l'entrée de l'église était complètement gelée, beaucoup de blocs de glace se promène sur la Warta, et les vitres des trams et des autobus sont gelées aussi à l'intérieure... bienvenue en Pologne ! Mais le vente va changer dans quelques jours et les températures vont retourner autour de 0°C.

Dans quelques paroisses, il y a un groupe de jeunes ERM (Eucharystyczny Ruch Młodych), c'est la version polonaise du MEJ (Mouvement Eucharistique des Jeunes), en anglais c'est EYM (Eucharistic Youth Movement).
In some parish, there is also a group of young people ERM, that is the polish version of MEJ. The english version is EYM.

Small journey to Szczecin / Petit voyage à Szczecin

On Saturday, after many go and back in front of the main board of the train station of Poznań, I managed to find the train with the right destination : Szczecin. I went there to visit the group who prepare to participate to the meeting in Poznań in few days. A simple and nice prayer in a room of the parish and then a time of talking about the preparation of the meeting and my stay in Kenya and Taizé.
Samedi, après de nombreux aller et retour devant le tableau principal de la gare de Poznań, j'ai réussi à trouver le train avec la bonne destination: Szczecin. J'y suis allé pour visiter le groupe qui se préparent à participer à la réunion de Poznań en quelques jours. Une prière simple et agréable dans une salle de la paroisse et puis un temps de parler de la préparation de la réunion et mon séjour au Kenya et Taizé.

Presentation of Szczecin / Présentation de Szczecin

Szczecin (ou Stettin) se situe dans l'extrême nord-ouest de la Pologne sur deux rives de la rivière Oder, à l'extrémité sud d'une lagune qui relie la ville à la mer Baltique. Szczecin a une histoire parmi les plus colorées d'Europe. Par le passé, cette ville a appartenu aux Polonais, aux Allemands, aux Prussiens, aux Danois et aux Suédois. Elle est polonaise depuis les accords de Potsdam (1945).
Szczecin (or Stettin) is located in the extreme north-western Poland on both sides of the river Oder, on the southern end of a lagoon which connects the city with the Baltic Sea. Szczecin has a history among the most interesting of Europe. In the past, this city has belonged to Poles, Germans, Prussians, Danes and Swedes. It is Polish since the Potsdam Agreement (1945).

La ville appartint à la Prusse de 1720 à 1945 et donc à l'Allemagne, lorsque celle-ci fit son unité à partir du 18 janvier 1871. À la révocation de l'édit de Nantes, les autorités prussiennes firent venir des milliers de Huguenots français qui s'y établirent et contribuèrent au développement de la ville. Celle-ci redevint ainsi l'une des villes les plus riches et les plus importantes de la mer Baltique. Une forte immigration venue de toute l'Allemagne permit ensuite au commerce de Stettin de compter parmi les plus dynamiques de Prusse.
The city belonged to Prussia from 1720 to 1945 and so to Germany, when it made its unit from 18th of January 1871. At the revocation of the Edict of Nantes, the Prussian authorities summoned thousands of French Huguenots who settled and contributed to the development of the city. It became one of the richest cities and the largest of the Baltic Sea. Then a strong immigration from all over Germany permitted to trade in Stettin to be among the most dynamic of Prussian.

Après 1918, l'économie de la ville s'affaiblit avec la création de la république polonaise qui ôtait à Stettin l'accès aux vastes territoires agricoles de la Poméranie et de la Grande-Pologne. L'importance de la ville diminua au profit de Rostok et surtout de Hambourg.
After 1918, the city's economy weakened with the establishment of the Polish Republic took off to Stettin the access to vast agricultural lands of Pomerania and Great Poland. The importance of the city declined in favor of Rostok and especially Hamburg.

La Seconde Guerre mondiale a détruit 65 % de la ville et le 26 avril 1945 les Soviétiques sont entrés dans la ville. La conférence de Yalta, qui s'était tenue deux mois auparavant, laissa Stettin à l'Allemagne, car la nouvelle frontière de Pologne devait être située près de la ville de Kolberg, aujourd'hui Kołobrzeg, 75 kilomètres au nord-est de Stettin et les Polonais devaient avoir Koenigsberg, l'actuelle Kaliningrad. Cependant, Staline changea d'avis, car il avait besoin d'un port sur la Baltique qu'il puisse utiliser tout au long de l'année, y compris en hiver. Il donna donc Stettin à la Pologne et la ville prit le nom polonais de Szczecin. La population allemande majoritaire depuis sept siècles fut totalement expulsée, provoquant des milliers de morts. Les Polonais furent encouragés à s'établir dans la région. Ils vinrent en masse, surtout ceux qui avaient été chassés des territoires annexés par l'Union Soviétique (Ukraine). Szczecin devint alors en quelque sorte la ville frontière entre l'Allemagne de l'Est et la Pologne. La ville compta une petite minorité allemande jusqu'en 1960.
The Second World War destroyed 65% of the city and the 26th of April 1945 the Soviets entered the city. The Yalta Conference, held two months ago, left Stettin in Germany, as the new frontier of Poland should be located near the town of Kolberg (called Kolobrzeg today), 75 kilometers northeast of Stettin and the Poles should have Koenigsberg, now Kaliningrad. However, Stalin changed his mind because he needed a port on the Baltic that it can use throughout the year including winter. He gave Stettin in Poland and the city took the polish name of Szczecin. The German population majority since seven centuries, was expelled completely, causing thousands of deaths. The Poles were encouraged to settle in the region. They came overwhelmingly, especially those who had been expelled from territories annexed by the Soviet Union. (Ukraine). Szczecin became a kind of frontier town between East Germany and Poland. The city had a small German minority until 1960.

Devenue capitale de la Poméranie-Occidentale, Szczecin fut rebâtie et les communistes prirent le contrôle du développement de la ville. Les syndicats de Szczecin se révoltèrent en 1970 contre les dirigeants communistes. Soutenus par leurs collègues de Gdańsk et de Silésie, ils réussirent à mettre le feu dans les bureaux du parti communiste. En 1980, le syndicat Solidarność provoqua une révolte similaire. La Pologne devint une démocratie de type occidental en 1989, ce qui permit à Szczecin un développement rapide et l'entrée dans l´économie de marché.
Become the capital of Western Pomerania, Szczecin was rebuilt and the Communists took control of the city's development. The unions of Szczecin in 1970 revolted against the Communist leaders. Supported by their colleagues from Gdansk and Silesia, they managed to set fire to the offices of the Communist Party. In 1980, the Solidarity trade union led a revolt similar. Poland became a Western-style democracy in 1989, which allowed Szczecin rapid development and entry into the market economy.

Like many countries of central Europe and East Europe, St Nicolas is a feast for the children in Poland. And we also receive something in our shoes this morning with Joaquim and also in the preparation center (see the photo). Just some cookies, chocolate, mandarin...

Visit to the Barka Foundation / Visite de la Fondation Barka

Last tueday, we were invited for a meeting in the Barka Foundation. It's really what we call when we prepare the meeting a place/persons/sign of hope. We began with a presentation and a small sharing all together, then a short prayer and to finish we took the lunch in the canteen of the welcome center.
Mardi dernier, nous avons été invités pour une rencontre à la Fondation Barka. C'est vraiment ce que nous appelons, quand on prépare la recontre européenne, un lieu et des personnes d'espérance. Nous avons commencé avec une présentation et un petit partage tous ensemble, ensuite une courte prière et pour finir nous avons pris le déjeuner à la cantine du centre d'accueil.

Barka Foundation for Mutual Help was established as a response to increasing social problems during the first years after the communism. Barbara and Tomasz Sadowski wanted to create conditions in which the “forgotten and unwanted” could have a chance to rebuild their own identity, learn more and find again a place socio-economic.
La Fondation Barka pour une Aide Mutuelle a été créé comme une réponse aux problèmes sociaux croissants au cours des premiers années après le communisme. Barbara et Tomasz Sadowski ont voulu créer des conditions dans lesquelles les "oubliés et indésirables" pourraient avoir une chance de reconstruire leur propre identité, d'apprendre plus et de retrouver une place socio-économique.

This mission influenced the creation of an alternative system of support, which gathers people from the weakest groups, giving them possibilities to rebuild their lives, upgrade vocational skills and find their way in the new socioeconomic reality. In 1989, these two psychologists set up the first Barka community, using the derelict school building in Wladyslawowo (in the West of Poznań). This first community gave a home for 25 “life wrecked”” individuals, who were living together with the Sadowski’s family. Wladyslawowo became the spring-board for the continuing mutual-help movement, engaging not only the people in need but also informal groups and non-governmental organizations in Poland and abroad.
Cette mission a influencé la création d'un système alternatif de soutien, qui rassemble des personnes appartenant aux groupes les plus faibles, leur donner la possibilité de reconstruire leur vie, améliorer leurs compétences professionnelles et de trouver leur chemin dans la nouvelle réalité socio-économique. En 1989, ces deux psychologues mettent en place la première communauté Barka, en utilisant le bâtiment de l'école à l'abandon en Wladyslawowo (dans l'ouest de Poznań). Cette communauté a d'abord donné une maison pour 25 personnes "détruites de la vie", qui vivaient ensemble avec la famille Sadowski. Wladyslawowo est devenue le tremplin pour un mouvement d'entraide continue, engageant non seulement les gens dans le besoin mais aussi des groupes informels et des organisations non gouvernementales en Pologne et à l'étranger.

Barka's Mission / Mission de Barka
Barka Foundation is a non-governmental organization. Its mission is to offer support for social development of excluded groups, build conditions to enable them to rebuild their lives by creating a system of mutual help, education and entrepreneurship, in line with a citizens’ society. The objective is to create a system of support for the process of integration of excluded groups. This system includes about 5000 persons annually (gathering persons in life crises, informal groups of citizens,non-governmental organizations, representatives of the government at national and local levels). The main task is to create a program for the development of this system in Poland,in other countries in transformation and in developing countries.The development of the program consists on creation of Schools of Social Animation (SAS – Szkoly Animacji Socjalnej), based on experiences and knowledge of people who overcame extreme poverty and serious life difficulties, and today are able to transfer the knowledge on the mechanisms of creation and development of programs of fight against social exclusion to groups from diverse regions of Poland and Europe, in a professional way. SAS educates in the self-help system future animators of centers and programs. The new Law on Social Employment and the project of Law on Social Cooperatives enable to give legal and financial support for the development of these programs in Poland.
La fondation Barka est une organisation non gouvernementale. Sa mission est d'offrir un soutien pour le développement social des groupes exclus, construire des conditions pour leur permettre de reconstruire leur vie en créant un système d'entraide, d'éducation et de l'entrepreneuriat, en lien avec le reste de la population. L'objectif est de créer un système de soutien pour un processus d'intégration des groupes exclus. Ce système concerne environ 5 000 personnes par an (rassemblant des personnes en crises de vie, des groupes informels de citoyens, les organisations non gouvernementales, des représentants du gouvernement aux niveaux national et local). La tâche principale est de créer un programme pour le développement de ce système en Pologne, dans d'autres pays en transformation et dans des pays développés. Le développement du programme consiste à la création d'écoles d'animation sociale (SAS - Szkoły Animacji Socjalnej), basé sur les expériences et les connaissances des gens qui ont surmonté l'extrême pauvreté et de graves difficultés de la vie, et ces personnes sont aujourd'hui en mesure de transférer d'une manière professionnelle les connaissances sur les mécanismes de création et de développement de programmes de lutte contre l'exclusion sociale à des groupes de diverses régions de Pologne et d'Europe. Tous les matins, avec Joaquim nous nous levons à 6h et nous allons avec une partie de la famille au Rorate à 6h30 dans l'église paroissiale du quartier de la cathédrale, sw. Małgorzaty. Tous les samedis, les jeunes de la paroisse se retrouve ensemble à la fin de la messe pour un petit déjeuner, nous y sommes invité. Mercredi prochain, c'est tous le groupe de préparation qui a rendez-vous à 6h à l'église des dominicains.

Every morning, with Joaquim we get up at 6am and we go with a part of the family to the Rorate at 6:30 in the parish church of the cathedral area, sw. Malgorzaty. Every Saturday, the youth of the parish are gathered together at the end of the Mass for breakfast, we're invited. Next Wednesday, it is all the preparation group which go to 6am at the Dominican church.

Rorate (en polonais s'écrit Roraty), est une messe célébrée tôt le matin, avant le lever du soleil durant l'Avent. Il s'agit d'une messe votive à la Sainte Vierge, car toute heureuse, elle nous précède dans l'accueil de Jésus. On célèbre cette messe à la lueur de bougies, les enfants arrivant avec des petites lanternes décorées.

Rorate (Roraty written in Polish) is a mass celebrated in the early morning before sunrise during Advent. This is a votive mass to the Blessed Virgin, because all happy she precedes us in welcoming of Jesus. We celebrate this mass in the glow of candles, children arrive with little lanterns decorated.

Le nom de cette messe vient d'un hymne grégorien «Rorate caeli desuper» chantée au début de la messe. Ces paroles viennent d'un passage du livre du prophète Isaïe (45,8) : Que le ciel, là-haut, laisse tomber la rosée ! Et que les nuages fassent pleuvoir la victoire ! Que la terre s'entrouvre pour laisser fleurir le salut et germer la justice ! Voilà ce que je crée, moi le Seigneur. Cette messe est apparue à Rome à Xème siècle et se serait exporté en Pologne peu de temps après, ce qui correspond au début du Christianisme dans ce pays, c'est un des cultes mariales les plus anciens (le Rosaire et les Litanies à la Vierge Marie ne sont apparus qu'au XIXème siècle). C'est devenu une messe très importante pour les Polonais. Elle n'ai plus célébrée dans beaucoup de pays, mais les Polonais l'ont gardée très présente dans leur tradition.

The name of this mass comes from a Gregorian hymn "Rorate caeli desuper" sung at the beginning of the mass. These words come from a passage from the prophet Isaiah (45.8): O sky, rain down from above! Let the clouds send down showers of deliverance! Let the earth absorb it so salvation may grow, and deliverance may sprout up along with it. I, the Lord, create it. This mass appeared in Rome in the Xth century and was exported to Poland shortly after, which is the beginning of Christianity in this country. It is one of the oldest Marian cult (the Rosary and the Litany to the Virgin Mary appear during the XIXth century). It became a mass very important for the Poles. It no longer celebrated in many countries, but the Poles have kept very active in their tradition.

Nous visitons les paroisses, les aidons à préparer l'accueil de jeunes pèlerins,et nous visitons les lycées... Finally a short description of the team of volunteers in Poznań (those who are not from Poznań). We are in total a bit more than a dozen. We visit the parishes, helping to prepare the reception of young pilgrims, and we visit the high schools ...

Du côté des filles. Toward the girls :

- Delphine : française, elle vient de Troie, à Taizé depuis automne 2008, elle a fini ces études d'infirmière. French, she comes from Troie, in Taizé since autumn 2008, she finish her studies of nurse.

- Felicia : elle vient de l'ouest de l'Allemagne, à Taizé depuis le printemps 2008, elle est sage-femme. She comes from west of Germany, in Taizé since spring 2008, she is midwife.

- Aline : française, elle vient d'Amiens, à Taizé depuis début septembre, elle était à Poznań l'an dernier en Erasmus, elle est arrivée à apprendre le polonais très rapidement, maintenant elle parle couramment. French, she comes from Amiens, in Taizé since the third week of the last summer, she was in Poznań last year in Erasmus, and she manage to learn polish very quickly, now she speaks fluently.

- Adriana : elle vient d'Argentine, à Taizé depuis cet été, elle a été invité par la communauté pour 6 mois. She comes from Argentina, in Taizé since this summer, she was invited by the community for 6 months.

- Ulli : elle vient d'Allemagne, à Taizé depuis la fin de l'été, elle nous a rejoint en fin octobre. She comes from Germany, in Taizé since the end of the summer, she joined us at the end of october

- Agi : hongroise-polonaise, elle habite en Hongrie, elle est arrivée il y a un peu plus de 2 semaines, elle s'occupent des logements pour les personnes en fauteuils et autres. Hungarian-Polish, she lives in Hungary, she arrived there a little over 2 weeks, she is dealing the accomodation for persons in wheelchair and others.

- Igor : il vient d'Italie, à Taizé depuis l'été 2008, il a été mon voisin de chambre à Taizé pendant plusieurs mois, il a un master en littérature classique. Depuis janvier, il s'est attaqué au polonais et maintenant il peut tenir une conversation sans soucis. He comes from Italy, in Taizé since the summer 2008, he was my roommate in Taizé for several months, he has a master degree in classical literature. Since January, he had attacked the Polish and now he can have a conversation without worries.

- Joaquim : franco-brésilien, il vient de la région parisienne, il est à Taizé depuis septembre 2008, nous logeons dans la même famille à Poznań. Il a une licence de marketing-management. French-Brazilian, he comes from the region of Paris, he is Taizé since September 2008, we're staying in the same family in Poznań. He has a degree in marketing-management.

- Matthieu : français, il vient de la campagne bretonne, il est à Taizé depuis février 2008, il a fais des études de loi et il aime le sport (jogging, arbitre de foot). French, he comes from the countryside of Bretagne, he is in Taizé since February 2008, he was studying law and he like sport (jogging, football referee).

- Matteo : d'Italie aussi, il est arrivé à Taizé à la fin mars 2009. Il a fait des études de mathématiques. From Italy too, he arrived in Taizé at the end of march 2009. He did studies of mathematics.

- Staszek : de Pologne, plus exactement de Worcław, il est arrivé à Taizé en septembre. Il étudie la robotique. Il nous a rejoint il y a trois semaines, il nous aide en visitant les lycées, les universités et aussi avec l'inscription, il regarde les participants qui ont déjà un logement. From Poland, more exalty from Worcław, he arrived in Taizé this september. He study electronic-robotic. He joined us three weeks ago, he is helping us visiting the high schools, university and also with the inscription, he looks the participants who have already an accommodation.

- Danny : du Danemark, il est à Taizé depuis mi-mars. Il a fait des études dans le cinéma. Actuellement, il finit un périple de deux semaines à travers la Pologne visitant des groupes de jeunes pour les inviter à la rencontre. From Denmark, he is Taizé since middle of march. He did studies in film. Currently, he ended a two-week trip through Poland visiting youth groups to invite them for the meeting.

- Étienne : français, il vient de Montauban à côté de Toulouse. Après son diplôme d'architecte en juillet 2008, il est parti quatre mois au Kenya pour préparer une rencontre internationale, invité par les frères de Taizé. Ensuite, il est venu à Taizé. French, he come from Montauban near Toulouse. After graduating as an architect in July 2008, he left for four months in Kenya to prepare an international meeting, invited by the brothers of Taizé. Then I came to Taizé.

Our family / Notre famille

Depuis le début de la préparation de la rencontre, j'habite chez une famille avec Joaquim, un autre permanent français. Il vient de la région parisienne et il est à Taizé depuis septembre 2008. La maison se situe sur la pointe sud de l'ile historique de Poznań, là se trouve aussi le cathédrale, l'archevêché et le séminaire.
Since the beginning of the preparation of the meeting, I'm living in a family with Joaquim, an other french permanent. He comes from the region of Paris and is in Taizé since September 2008. The house is located on the southern tip of the historic island of Poznań, there is also the cathedral, the archdiocese office and the seminary.

Commençons par la première personne que j'ai rencontré quand je suis arrivé en bus le 20 septembre, Szczepan. Il est pneumologue, interne, responsable d'un hôpital universitaire. Il fait parti du comité social qui se réunit autour de l'archeévêque pour donner des avis sur des questions de société. Il parle très bien le français et aussi l'anglais. Il travaille très tard tous les soirs à la maison et parfois à l'hôpital, alors quand nous rentrons le soir nous pouvons le voir, le matin le lever et le départ de la maison sont très rapides.
Start with the first person I met when I arrived by bus September 20, Szczepan. It is pulmonologist, internal, head of a university hospital. His is in the social comity that gather around the bishop to advise on some issues of society. He speaks very good French and English as well. He works late every night at home and sometimes at the hospital, so when we return in the evening we can see him ; in the morning, the get up and leaving home are very fast.

Ania, la maman, prends soin de nous comme ses enfants. Elle parle anglais, nous parlons beaucoup avec elle au petit déjeuner, ou le soir quand nous revenons. Elle a cessé de travailler depuis quelques années et reste à la maison en prenant soin de Marisa, dernier enfant de la famille, elle anime également le groupe de catéchisme pour les enfants de moins de 6 ans de la cathédrale. Ania et Szczepan faisaient partie des opetites délégations polonaises (50-100 personnes) qui ont participé aux rencontres européennes à Barcelone (1985) et Londres (1986).
Ania, the mum, takes care of us like her children. She speaks English, so we talk a lot with her at breakfast or the evening when we are coming back. She stopped work since some years and stays at home taking care for Marisa, last child of family, also she animate the catechism group for children under 6 years of the cathedral. Ania and Szczepan were part of small polish delegations (50-100 people) who have participated in the European meetings in Barcelona (1985) and London (1986).

Les enfants, ils sont trois. Deux garçons: Franek (11 ans) et Antonek (9 ans). Tous deux, ils aiment le football et font partie des "ministrants" de la paroisse de la cathédrale. Ils apprennent l'anglais à l'école et Franek également le français depuis un an et demi. De temps en temps le soir nous discutons en anglais avec eux. Marisa, la dernière, a 5 ans, elle n'est pas encore à l'école, mais deux fois par semaine, elle passe quelques heures à la pépinière. Elle a «adopté» nous très rapidement, disant qu'elle a maintenant quatre frères! Elle est toujours heureux de jouer avec nous, à nous de montrer ses derniers dessins, ou tout simplement de nous ouvrir la porte le soir, ou le matin de nous souhaiter le bonjour quand elle est réveillée. The kids, they are three. Two boys: Franek (11 years) and Antonek (9 years). Both, they love football and are part of the "ministrant" of the parish of the cathedral. They are learning English at school and Franek also French since one year and a half. From time to time in the evening we discuss in English with them. Marisa, the last, is 6 years old, she doesn't still be at school but twice a week she spends a few hours at the nursery. She has "adopted" us very quickly, saying she has now four brothers! She is always happy to play with us, to show to us her last drawings, or simply to open to us the door in the evening, or in the morning to wish us good morning when she is woke up.

11 novembre : Sw Marcin Feast / Fête de Sw Marcin

A Poznań, le 11 novembre, jour de la St Martin (Sw Marcin), la ville sent le Rogale. Le Rogale est une sorte de croissant fourré recouvert de sucre et d'éclats de noix. In Poznań, the 11th of November, the day of St Martin (Sw Marcin), the city feels the Rogale. The Rogale is a kind of croissant stuffed covered with sugar and nut chips.

Cette tradition viendrait du temps du paganisme, quand à la fin de l'automne on faisait des sacrifices de taureaux aux dieux. L'Église a repris cette pratique en faisant en pâtisserie une sorte de cornes de taureaux et, en la combinant avec la figure de saint Martin, représenterait aussi la forme d'un fer à cheval que le cheval de St Martin aurait perdu. À Poznan, la tradition dans sa forme actuelle, est né en Novembre 1891. Quand la date de la saint Martin s'est approché, le curé de la paroisse Saint-Martin, Ks. Jan Lewicki, a demandé au responsable de la ville de faire quelque chose pour les pauvres. Présent à la patisserie, Joseph Melzer, qui travaillait à la pâtisserie à proximité, convaincu son patron de faire revivre la vieille tradition. Les habitants les plus riches achetaient la patisserie et les pauvres la reçevaient gratuitement.

This tradition comes from the pagan times, when at the end of autumn, is made sacrifices of bulls to the gods. The Church has adopted this practice by making in pastry a kind of horns of bulls, and combining it with the figure of St. Martin, also represent the shape of a horseshoe the horse of St Martin would have lost. In Poznan, the tradition in its present form, was born in November 1891. When the date of St. Martin approached, the parish priest of Saint-Martin, Ks January Lewicki, asked the city official to do something for the poor. Present at the patisserie, Joseph Melzer, who worked at the bakery nearby, convinced his boss to revive the old tradition. The wealthier residents bought pastry and the poor received free.

Que c'était beau de voir la neige! Surtout Adri car c'était la première fois! Les Polonais se moquent de nous quand tous nos transports sont bloqués quand il neige un ou deux fois par an. Alors avec cette première neige précoce pour la saison, j'ai bien aimé de voir que eux aussi avaient que petit soucis de transports...

That was nice to see snow! Especially Adri because it was the first time! The Polish are making fun of us when all our transport is blocked when it snows once or twice a year. So with this first snow early for the season, I liked to see that also them, they had some worries of transport...

Toussaint à Taizé / All Saints in Taizé

6 000 jeunes lycéens français sont passés par Taizé pendant les vacances de la Toussaint. Trois fois une demi-semaine. Mon challenge a été de ne plus avoir de stock après ces 10 jours, car après ça la grande cuisine ferme pour tout l'hiver. Finalement le plus gros soucis a été surtout les piques-niques car ils étaient distribués en grand nombre en milieu de semaine, et nos comptages et livraisons ne sont pas organisé pour ça alors sans stock minimum c'était un peu stressant :) Finalement tout c'est bien terminé, je pense ,car je suis revenu à Poznań avant la fin des vacances.

6 000 young French students went through Taizé during the holidays of All Saints. Three times a half of a week. My challenge was to have no more stock after this 10 days, because after that the big kitchen closes for all winter. Finally, the biggest worry was especially the picnics because they were distributed in large numbers in midweek, and our countiung list and deliveries are not organized for this, so without minimum stock was a bit stressful :) Finally everything finished well, I think, because I came back to Poznań before the end of the holidays.

Pélerinage a Trzebnica / Pilgrimage to Trzebnica

Last Saturday, the volunters who were shaped, went with br Paolo for a pilgrimage from Wrocław to Trzebnica. We take the train from Poznań on friday at 16h15, it was raining, everywhere it was wet. We were warmly welcomed by the youth of the student chaplaincy with of course a cup of hot tea and we went to different place for the night.
Samedi dernier, les volontaires qui étaient en forme, sont allés avec fr Paolo pour un pélerinage de Wrocław á Trzebnica. Nous avons le train á Poznań le vendredi á 16.15pm, il pleuvait, partout c'était humide. Nous avons étaient chaleureusement accueilli par les jeunes de l'aumonerie étudiante avec bien-súr une tasse de thé chaud, et nous sommes allés dans différents endroits pour la nuit.

Wake up at 5am, a good breakfast and meeting at 6am in front of the Katedra of Wrocław. After a short prayer which we saw nothing, the long walk began with the frog and of course the cold (1 or 2'C). 30 km and 3 break away, we arrived at 4pm in Trzebnica. 3It's a small town in the north of Wrocław. Each year, for feast of Saint Hedwig, there is this pilgrimage with at the end the mass. At the end of the article, I will put some informations about her.
Réveil á 5h du matin, un bon petit déjeuner et rendez-vous á 6h devant la cathédrale de Wrocław. Après une rapide prière dont nous avons rien vu, la longue marche commença dans le brouillard et bien-sûr dans le froid (1 ou 2'C). 0 km et 3 pauses plus loin, nous sommes arrivés á Trzebnica. C'est une petite ville au nord de Wrocław. Chaque année, pour la fête de Saint Edwige, il y a ce pélerinage avec á la fin une messe. A la fin de cet article, je vais mettre quelques informations sur elle.

After the mass (quite difficult because of the tiredness), our mini-bus was waiting us but also the student chaplain with a very good soup. It's a bit difficult to discribe more in details and talk more about this pilgrimage but it was a good experience and also a good immersion in the polish culture.
Apres la messe (un peu difficile á cause dela fatigue), notre mini-bus nous attendais mais aussi l'aumonier des étudiants avec une tres bonne soupe. C'est difficile de décrire plus en détails sur ce pélerinage mais c'était un belle exprérience mais aussi une belle immersion.

Saint Hedwig of Silesia (polish : Święta Jadwiga Śląska, 1174 – 15 october 1243) was the daughter of Berthold IV, Duke of Merania and his wife, Agnes of Rochlitz. She was born in Bavaria. At age 12, Hedwig married Henry I the Bearded of Silecia. In 1233 Henry also became Duke of Geater Poland. In 1238, upon his death, Henry was buried at the Cistercian convent of Trzebnica which he had founded in 1202 at Hedwig's request. The widow moved into the convent, which was led by one of her daughters. Hedwig and Henry had lived a very pious life. She always helped the poor, went barefoot even in winter, and donated all her fortune to the Church and the poor. On 15 October 1243, Hedwig died and was buried in Trebnitz (Trzebnica), while relics of her are preserved at Andechs Abbeys. She was canonized in 1267.

Le 15 Octobre 1243, Edwige mourut et fut enterrée á Trzebnica, tandis que ses reliques sont conservées au cloítre d'Andechs. Elle fut canonisée en 1267.

Last sunday, I was in the sacristy waiting for the annoucement. Dimache, dernier, j'étais dans la sacristie, patientant pour les annonces. And at the end of the communion, two ministranci (altar's boys) opened the door and told something really short to the sacristan, I understood after it was a number. A la fin de la communion, deux ministranci (enfants de choeur) ont ouvert la porte et dit quelque chose très bref au sacristain. And he wrote a number in a spreadsheet. Et il écrivat un chiffre dans un tableau. My translator explain to me that twice a year in Poland, in each mass, they check the number of people participating, and also the number of those who receive the communion. Mon traducteur m'explique que deux fois par an, à chaque messe, on compte les gens présents, et aussi le nombre de personnes qui reçoivent la communion.

Today, I was in a liceum to meet the pupils of 6 classes. Aujourd'hui, j'étais dans un lycée pouyr rencontrer les élèves de 6 classes. Of course; not at the same time. Bien sûr, pas en même temps ! The priest invite me 10 days ago, and for the translator he told me, it was not necessary because they are learning english at school. Le prêtre m'avait invité il ya 10 jours, et pour le traducteur, il m'a dit que ce n'était nécessqire cqa ils qprrennent l'anglais à l'école. So 6 presentations, 6 Poznan film (16min), 6 additionnal explications, 6 priest encouragements (he was in Taizé some years ago)... Donc 6 présentations, 6 film de Poznan (16min), 6 explications supplémentaire, 6 encouragements de la part du prêtre (il était à Taizé il y a quelques années)... End of the day a bit tired to repeat the same things and because I repeated the same things, it was more and more concise. Fin de la journée, un peu fatigué à force d'avoir répéter les mêmes choses et parce que je répète les mêmes choses, c'était de plus en plus concis.

Les origines de Poznan sont étroitement liées aux débuts de l'Etat polonais. Les premières bourgades slaves découvertes dans la région datent du IX siècle: un château fut alors construit sur Ostrow Tumski, île sur la Warta. Le développement de la ville débuta au temps du prince Mieszko I et du roi Boleslas le Vaillant, les premiers souverains polonais. Déjà en 968, un évêché y fut fondé. Poznan était alors un des deux centres clés de l'Etat polonais; l'autre était la première capitale de la Pologne, Gniezno.

The founding of Poznan is closely connected with the beginnings of the Polish state and nation. The first Slavonic settlements in this area date back to the 9th century, when the castle was built on the Ostrow Tumski Island on the Warta River. Development of the town took place under Prince Mieszko and King Boleslaw the Brave, the first Polish rulers, and 968 saw a bishopric being established there. In those times Poznan was one of the two crucial centres of the Polish state (the other one was Poland's first capital Gniezno).

Après qu'un prince tchèque eut détruit les deux villes, la capitale fut déplacée à Cracovie. Toutefois, Poznan continua à jouer un rôle important, étant la capitale de la Grande-Pologne et le bastion principal sur la frontière Ouest du pays. Grâce à sa localisation sur les routes commerciales européennes, Poznan se développa vite en augmentant en même temps sa surface si bien qu'au XIII siècle, un nouveau centre-ville fut créé sur la rive gauche de la Warta. Le XVI siècle vit la renaissance économique et culturelle de la ville. En effet, deux écoles supérieures y furent créées: l'Académie de Lubranski et le Collège jésuite dont le recteur, Jakub Wojek, traduisit pour la première fois la Bible en polonais.

After a Bohemian prince destroyed both towns, the capital was moved to Krakow. Poznan still played an important role as the capital of the Greater Poland and the main bastion on the country's western border. Situated on the European trade route, Poznan quickly developed. In the 13th century a new town centre was created on the left bank of the Warta River. Poznan flourished during the Renaissance period in both the economic and cultural sense. Two higher education institutions were founded in the 16th century: the Lubranski Academy and the Jesuits' College. The rector of the latter, Jakub Wujek, was responsible for the first Polish translation of the Bible.

Au cours des siècles suivantes, Poznan vécut plusieurs invasions suédoises, prussiennes et russes qui, avec de nombreux incendies et épidémies, endommagèrent sérieusement la ville. Finalement, en 1793, à la suite du deuxième partage de la Pologne, Poznan passa pour une centaine d'années sous la domination prussienne (avec une courte pause dans les années 1807-1815 lorsqu'elle fit partie du Duché de Varsovie).

In the following centuries Poznan suffered from Swedish, Prussian and Russian invasions, which, along with fires and epidemics, caused much damage to the town. Eventually in 1793, after the second Partition of Poland, Poznan fell under Prussian rule, with a short break in 1807-1815 when it was a department of the Duchy of Warsaw, established by Napoleon.

La ville connut alors une croissance industrielle intense et devint un centre militaire important de la Prusse, transformée ensuite en forteresse "Festung Posen" ("Forteresse de Poznan"). Néanmoins, la politique de germanisation et la colonisation de la Grande-Pologne par les Prussiens se heurta à une forte opposition de la part des Polonais, surtout dans la deuxième moitié du XIX siècle.

The city experienced intense industrial growth and became an important military centre for Prussia, known as Festung Posen (Fortress Poznan). Although it was Germanised and colonised by Prussian settlers, an active Polish national movement resisted the state's policy, especially in the second half of the 19th century.

En 1918, à la suite de l'insurrection de Grande-Pologne, Poznan retourna à la Pologne. Pendant l'entre-deux-guerres, la ville connut un essor économique, académique et urbain et embrassa aussi la rive droite de la Warta. Plus tard, l'occupation allemande des années 1939-1945 et la bataille pour l'indépendance de la ville y provoquèrent des dégâts énormes: la moitié des immeubles du centre-ville furent détruits.

In 1918 Poznan returned to Polish rule as a consequence of the Greater Poland Uprising against German rule. In the 1920s and 30s it continued to develop as an economic and educational centre, spreading onto the right bank of the Warta. The German occupation in 1939-1945 and the battle for the liberation of the city resulted in tremendous destruction, with about a half of the buildings being destroyed.

Après la guerre, Poznan resta dans les limites de la Pologne, qui entra dans la zone de l'influence soviétique. En 1956, dans les usines de Cegielski, éclata une grève des ouvriers mécontents de la situation économique du pays. Les manifestations spontanées furent étouffées de manière brutale par l'armée: plus de 70 personnes furent alors assassinées.

After the war Poznan remained within the Polish territory, which came into the Soviet sphere of influence. In 1956 massive strikes broke out in Poznan of workers dissatisfied with the economic situation. The spontaneous rebellion was crushed by the army at a cost of over 70 lives.

Sortie vélo / Bike trip

Last wednesday morning, all the volunters with brat Paolo and sisters Sonila and Alicia, we did a bike trip of 2 hours in the north of Poznań. Mercredi matin, tous les volontaires avec frère Paolo et soeurs Sonila et Alicia, nous avons fait une sortie vélo de 2 heurs au nord de Poznań. Ce fut un grand moment de détente même si nous avons pas vraiment suivi le chemin prévu. This was a great moment of relaxing, even if we didn't follow the initial way ! So the goal of the expedition was to see some craters of meteorites in the Morasko Meteor Reserve, they fell 5,000 years ago. Le but de l'expédition était de voire des cratères de météorites dans la réserve de météorites de Morasko, elles sont tombés il y a 5,000 ans !

Comment arriver à l'heure à une rencontre en ayant raté son train ?

Rencontre à 19h00 dans une paroisse à l'extérieur de Poznań, rendez-vous donc à la gare de train juste après la prière de 17h à ul. Fredry. Le temps de trouver quelqu'un qui peut me renseigner où se trouve le train, le voilà déjà parti. Que faire ? Une personne me dit qu'il est possible de rejoindre la paroisse à temps en allant au terminus du tramway et ensuite prendre le bus. Donc ni une ni deux, je cours prendre le tramway. Arrivé au terminus à 18h20, je me précipite pour consulter les horaires... Malheureusement le bus que j'aurais pu prendre est déjà parti depuis cinq minutes. Et le prochain qui va jusqu'à la paroisse part dans une heure et demi, le plan B n'a pas marché … Voilà qu'un plan C est possible : une gare de train à proximité. Je me renseigne sur le quai auprès d'un monsieur mais il ne parle que le polonais. Il me fait comprendre que le prochain train pour aller à la gare la plus proche de la paroisse passe dans une demi-heure. J'appelle la paroisse, la personne qui répond ne parle pas anglais ni français alors je donne mon téléphone au monsieur. Il arrive à expliquer quelque chose mais je ne sais pas quoi, ce que je sais c'est que les jeunes m'attendent quelque part ! Lorsque le train arrive, le monsieur m'amène au wagon où se trouve le contrôleur pour pouvoir payer. Deux arrêt plus loin, ma destination, le monsieur descends avec moi sur le quai en courant et me confit à deux jeunes. Ils sont venus me chercher en voiture et 6km plus loin, il est 19h30, je suis à la paroisse, juste pour à la fin de la messe. Tout fini par une très belle prière toute simple et ensuite autour d'une table avec un bon gâteau et du thé.

How to arrive on time for a meeting when you missed your train ?

Meeting à 7.00pm in a parish outside of Poznań, so appointement in the train station just after the prayer at 5.00pm in Fredy street. The time to find somebody to help me to find the train, it has already left. What to do? One person told me that is possible to reach the parish on time by taking the tramway and then the bus. So quickly, I ran to the tramway. Arrived to the terminus at 6.20pm, I rushed to look at the timetable... Unfortunately, the bus that I would like to take was already on the way since five minutes. And the next who was going as far as the parish would left in one hour and half, the plan B didn't work... There was a plan C possible : a train station near. I took information on the platform to a man, but he speak only polish. He made understand to me that the next train to go to the train station next the parish would be there in half of hour. I called the parish, the person who answered spoke neither english nor french, so I handed the mobile phone to the man. He managed to explain something but I didn't know what, the only thing that I understood was a youth was waiting for me somewhere ! When the train arrived, the men led me to the wagon where I could buy a ticket from the conductor. I finally reached my destination two stops later. The man got off the train with me, running to let me in the good care of two young people. They had come by car to drive me to the parish located six kms away, where I arrived at 7.30pm, just at the end of the mass. In the end, we had a beautiful, simple prayer followed by a tasty cake and tea.

Dimanche dernier, je suis bien arrivé à Poznan après 20h de bus depuis Paris. Last sunday, I arrived in Poznan after 20 hours of bus from Paris. Maintenant, je loge sur l'île de Poznan où se trouve aussi la cathédrale. Now I live in the island of Poznan where there is also the cathedral. Il y a une vue très belle sur les rives du fleuve, je vais mettre bientôt des photos. There is a beautiful view of the borders of the river, I'll put soon some photos. Now since this afternoon we have the access to internet in the preparation center, I'll give some news time to time. Maintenant depuis cet après-midi, nous avons accès à internet au centre de préparation, je vais de nouvelles de temps en temps.
